To purchase a marriage license contact the Lee County office of the Clerk of Courts at (239) 335-2273 or www.leeclerk.org. Cost of license is $88.50 cash, no personal checks are accepted. License is valid for 60 days. To qualify for a license both parties must apply in person (call for a list of what's acceptable) If either party was previously married, divorce papers, proof of annulment or a deceased spouse's death certificate must be presented. Florida does not require a blood test if certain conditions are met (call for list). The three day waiting period is waived for non- Florida residents. Florida residents must wait 3 days, after issue of license, before they can be married. Wedding may be performed by a member of the Clergy, Notary Public, Member of the Judiciary or Clerk of Courts.
